London Craft Beer Festival: What Happened, and What's Coming Next

Last week, the LowCostBeer team headed down to the London Craft Beer Festival, and we're still buzzing about it.

On The Ground

A Lot of Beer, A Lot of Breweries, One Very Good Ice Cream Van

We spent the festival doing what we do best: talking to independent UK breweries about their beer, their stock, and how we might work together. That meant sampling a genuinely large number of tasty beers along the way (purely for research purposes, of course).

The undisputed highlight, though? An Imperial Stout Whippy Ice Cream from the Vault City van. If you know, you know.

The Follow-Up

Over 70 Conversations and Counting

Festivals are great for meeting people, but the real work happens after. Since getting back, we've sent out more than 70 follow-up emails to breweries we connected with, and we're already having some brilliant conversations about rescuing great beer together.

"Our main business is grabbing beer that's close to, or just past, its best-before date and getting it into your hands at a discount before it goes to waste."

It's a great model, but it comes with a challenge: that stock isn't always constant or predictable. That's why we also started sourcing directly from breweries and building our Brewery Showcase Boxes, curated selections that mean there's always something exciting on the shelf, festival season or not.

Big News #1

☁️ Cloudwater

One conversation this week stood out. We finally got the chance to speak with Cloudwater, one of the most respected names in UK craft beer, and had a great chat with their Head of Sales about what we do at LowCostBeer.

They seemed genuinely interested in working with us, so watch this space. We're hoping to bring a full box of their beers into the Showcase lineup soon.

🐇 Indie Rabble

We've also had our eye on Indie Rabble for a while, and this week we spoke with their Co-Founder directly. We're delighted to say they're on board, and a fresh delivery from them is already on its way, forming the basis of our next Brewery Showcase Box.
