What is LowCostBeer?

LowCostBeer is an independent online beer shop in Little Paxton, Cambridgeshire, run by Megs and Daniel since June 2025. We sell craft beer from over 100 independent UK breweries at lower prices, much of it surplus, short dated or end of line stock.

Why is your beer cheaper?

Breweries sometimes have beer they can't move through their usual routes: cancelled orders, seasonal overstock, label or recipe changes, or stock getting closer to its best before date. We buy that beer directly from the brewery and pass the saving on to you.

Is short dated beer safe to drink?

Yes. A best before date is about quality, not safety. Most beer is perfectly good to drink after it, although very hoppy styles such as hazy IPAs are at their best when fresh. What is a Brewery Showcase Box?

A Brewery Showcase Box is a mixed box from a single independent brewery, picked to show off what that brewery does best. These are ordered fresh from the brewery rather than rescued surplus. See the current Brewery Showcase Boxes.

Do you offer a subscription?

Yes. Our Mystery Beer Box is available as a subscription, so a box of surplus craft beer arrives regularly without you having to reorder. You can manage your subscription from your account.

How much is delivery?

Delivery is £5.95, or free when you spend £65 or more. Orders are dispatched the next working day by DHL Express. Full details are in our shipping policy.

Can I collect my order?

No, we are an online only shop, so every order is delivered.

Do you deliver outside the UK?

We deliver anywhere in the UK, including Northern Ireland. We are not able to deliver outside the UK.

What if something arrives damaged or missing?

Tell us within 7 days and we'll replace or refund it. Email info@lowcostbeer.com with your order number and, for damage, a photo.

Will a sold out beer come back?

Sometimes, but not often. Most of our stock is surplus, so when a beer sells out we may not see that batch again. Join our email list and we'll tell you when new beers land or old favourites come back.

Do I need to be over 18?

Yes. You must be 18 or over to buy alcohol from us. The courier checks ID on delivery, so make sure someone aged 18 or over is there to receive it.
