A collaboration between Black Iris and the excellent Saint Monday Brewery, Death Valley is a celebration of some of their favourite American hops. Saint Monday is an ever-so-slightly Satanic-themed brewery based in London Fields, Hackney, from the same team behind Camden's much-loved metal pub, the Black Heart — making them natural kindred spirits with Nottingham's Black Iris. This is a Californian IPA — not a juicy, hazy East Coast NEIPA and not a bitter, resinous West Coast IPA, but something sitting beautifully in between. Cascade, Columbus and Simcoe in the boil deliver the classic citrus kick, while Cascade, Chinook, Krush and Strata in conditioning add layers of depth. The result is big and hoppy whilst being clean and refreshing. Finished off with some killer motorbike artwork from Black Iris's in-house designer Kev Grey. Vegan-friendly.
